The first place was on a Thursday and the Planets just happen to align in the right sequence that I got to take my lunch at a normal lunch type time. I also just happen to hear over the radio station playing at work that LAKE TIAK O' KHATA ( Louisville, MS click for their website ) was gonna have some potato soup on their lunch buffet. I am a sucker for some potato soup I'll tell ya what. When the timing worked out I just went ahead and headed to the Lake. A lot of folks in my area know about the Lake, but if you're not from around my area then it's a Resort with cabins, hotel rooms , a lake with a swimming area and fishing area and a restaurant. This is an all you can eat lunch buffet and I just about hurt myself on it because of the potato soup. That was some mighty fine potato soup too. I did the plate of veggies and a meat and a small bowl of soup but then went back for a big bowl of soup. The next time I hear they have potato soup I'm forgoing the plate and just concentrating on the potato soup. Someone there with me that day asked if I was getting a dessert and I just pointed to the extra bowl of soup. I knew it was either a dessert or another bowl of soup but not both, and I chose the soup. If you know they are doing some potato soup then get out there and try it, you won't regret it.
The other place I ate at was on Sunday in Starkville, MS. It use to be called O'Brady's but they changed their name a while back and added a plate lunch and are now called BLUE 22 (click for their facebook page). Same folks run it and they are some fine folks too. I had to run to Starkville to pick up some things and knew they had a plate lunch so I timed it so I would be there in time for it... I also may have timed it to beat the church crowd too. I believe they call it SOUL FOOD SUNDAY and they are right. They had some fried chicken like my grandma use to make. I don't know about your grandma but mine knew how to fry some chicken , let me tell you. The vegetables were fine also but I especially liked that chicken. That particular day they had baked chicken and also fried catfish but I went with the fried Chicken.
There's two places for yall to try out. Now if only someone would open up a restaurant that served fried chicken skins. A whole plate of fried chicken skins. Yall think I'm kidding but I've actually have done that before... fry up a whole mess of nothing but the chicken skins. Batter them up and then fry them up. That's some good eating.
See yall in the Funny Pages.
